REPORT ON THE ANNUAL VICE vs VICE COMPETITION 2022

Dear Players,

Many thanks to you all for competing in our annual Vice v Vice competition which we have been unable to organise since 2019.

The sun shone which is a novelty nowadays and miraculously we ended up with the right numbers despite Covid taking out Karyn and Bryan, much to their disappointment.

All the individual pairs played really well but at the end of the day the Vice Captain’s team, led by Kerrie won the day. It was a particularly good day for Kerrie as she and her partner Andrew also won the individual team event as they were just one point ahead of Helen and Jindong. Andrew is our newest (and youngest) committee member so it was great that he could meet up with so many other members on the day.

Many thanks to Kerrie , Suzie and Helen who all assisted in ensuring the day ran smoothly and that everyone was well fed. As always thanks to Jeff for doing a great job keeping the scores and organising the order of play.

Attached are some great photos to remind you of the fun times we have at Bareena.

Best Wishes,

Maggie

Congratulations to the 23 families who played on the day.

We enjoyed a sunny but somewhat chilly day; however, plenty of sausages, fruit, and chocolate helped keep the competitors fired up.

Thank you to the Bareena Team, Maggie Lang, Kerrie Patten, Suzi Cummins and Ross Mclean for all the help with the food. A massive shout out to Coach Luke Cullen, who gave his time to help manage the teams.

Another big thank you to the Ball Boy Café who added to the excitement with vouchers for the winners, and another shout-out goes to Anna Ellis who encouraged interest in this event amongst the community.

Congratulations to Andy and Maisy Sanderson, our winners of the final over Lily and Tiffany Egan.

Some happy memories of the day.

REPORT ON THE THOMPSON AND JEFFERYS MEMORIAL TROPHIES COMPETITION 2022

2022 Bareena Tennis Community Tennis Competition

On Tuesday 5th April surprisingly the sun shone, the courts were dry, and we were able to hold the above competition for the first time in three years.

All the participants played in a round robin format and the winners were the man and woman with the highest score.

Everyone was very sporting and gave it their best shot. The scores were close but at the end of the day the winners this year were Paula Marlow and Chin Teng who were both thrilled. Afterwards, we all relaxed and enjoyed a morning tea and chat.

Many thanks to Suzie and Jeff for all their help in organising the day. Hopefully we won’t have to wait so long in between competitions again.
